Carmen P. Núñez, age 88 of Victoria passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018. She was born June 28, 1929 in McFaddin to the late Antonio Peña and Nestora Epitallo Peña. She was a vibrant fun-loving lady whose smile lit up a room. She always demonstrated the importance of hard work and determination and earned her GED while working. She was employed by Dick’s Food Store for 18 years, VISD food service and Bealls. She was a devote Catholic and passed on her strong faith to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends enjoying her favorite past time at the Bingo and Senior Citizens Center. She was also a member of the CWV Women’s Auxillary. She is survived by her daughters, Rachel (Sebero) DeLeon of Victoria, Maria D. Núñez of Victoria, Otilia (Randy) Martin of Austin, Ofilia Núñez of Victoria and Carmen Reneé (Mark R.) Rodriguez of Victoria; son, Willie (Rosi) Núñez, Jr. of Sugarland; brother, Tom (Margaret) Peña of San Antonio. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William A. Núñez, Sr.; son, Robert P. Núñez; sisters, Julia Peña and Mary E. Núñez and brother, Juan Peña, Sr. Visitation will begin Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5 – 9pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm at Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home in Victoria. Visitation will resume Friday, March 2, 2018 from 9 – 11am at the funeral home. Funeral mass to be celebrated at 1pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sebero DeLeon, Jr., Daniel DeLeon, Armando Núñez, Bryan Rodriguez, Michael DeLeon and Eric Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Martin, Tony Núñez, Bobby Rodriguez, Joe A.
